Fast-Track Training as a Make-Up and Hair Artist

We designed our 9 Month Make-up and Hair Course (ITEC Level 3 Diploma) for people with time pressures but who still want professional training. For example, if you have family commitments, thinking of changing career or are an international student, then this is an ideal course for you. The course runs continuously over 9 months rather than according to UK academic term times. During this time, students work through a comprehensive syllabus of make-up and hair skills as required by professional artists working in film, TV, stage and fashion.

Our 9 Month Make-Up and Hair is a fast-track course giving you the reassurance of relevant and professional training plus the added benefit of an ITEC make-up qualification when you graduate.

Course Content

Take a look at the syllabus of our 9 Month Make-Up and Hair Course. We introduce students to key skills and techniques designed to build successful careers in film, TV, stage and fashion. Get in touch if you’d like more detail.

Media Make-Up & Hair

This module covers the basic techniques you need as a make-up artist in film, TV and stage. For example, period make-up, special effects, wig making and business skills. (We know that the time our students spend working with hair and wigs boosts their skills as make-up artists so they become truly valuable on-set.)

Fashion Make-Up & Hair

This part of the 9 Month Make-Up & Hair Course prepares you for the world of fashion. You could be working behind the scenes at red carpet events, fashion shoots or catwalk shows. For this reason we introduce you to some very different looks such as bridal, contemporary and androgynous.

Basic Hair Cutting, Styling & Extensions

In these sessions, we teach key techniques for women’s and men’s hair. Our tutors will teach you cutting, drying and styling. It’s our intention that students on the 9 Month Make-Up and Hair Course become skilled at applying hair extensions and will learn all about the equipment that artists use to achieve different effects.

Airbrushing & Editorial Techniques

This part of the 9 Month Make-Up & Hair Course is where our students learn spray brush control including the application of full make-up. Colour matching, highlighting and contouring are just some of the precise skills you’ll learn together with tips on how to keep your compressor and spray brush in good working condition.

Direct Applied SFX & Prosthetics

We teach our students an impressive range of skills and techniques so they can create individual special effects and prosthetic characters. This includes work with bald caps and re-creating wounds and injuries. You’ll also be taught the application and removal of prosthetic pieces for 3D character make-up.
